Everyone is anticipating seeing Coach Blake Shelton and his friendly adversary Kelly Clarkson square off for one last time as he prepares for his final turn in the red chair.
Shelton and Clarkson, who are both voice coaches, compete against one another. He loves to make her uncomfortable, and she loves to attempt to steal his country musicians. Because of their playful banter, Shelton and Clarkson have made their friendship known to the public.
Shelton still makes fun of Clarkson whenever he gets the chance, though. Exhibit A: He made fun of Clarkson "firing" him from The Voice when he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to discuss his Return to the Honky Tonk Tour. (Which, it should be obvious, is untrue.) Blake Shelton is simply being himself!
Kelly finally got me fired, Shelton joked, drawing laughter from the audience. "I wanted to announce on the show that Kelly Clarkson is the reason I was fired."
As we've already stated, Clarkson didn't actually cause Shelton to be let go. Yet, he enjoyed cracking jokes about Clarkson's fame from The Kelly Clarkson Show and The Voice. She's on every late-night programme and hosts the daytime, according to Shelton.
I've talked to Blake a little bit about how this is his final season on The Voice, Clarkson said of Shelton to NBC Insider. It won't hit you till afterward, I assured her. You'll experience it. It's been a constant throughout your life. And you'll experience it afterwards. He may be aware of it, but I also believe he is aware of the time.
She continued, "I think it's a really cool way to let us all know he's leaving so we can, like—I mean, I can't hate him, but I also adore him. He's been doing it for a long time.
